Executive Director of the World Food Programme

We are honored to have David Beasley who has generously offered to speak to us in an informal format Friday February 19^th.   David is an American politician and currently the Executive Director of the United Nations World Food Programme.   

In February 2017, United States Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley (also a former South Carolina governor) nominated Beasley to be the next Executive Director of the World Food Programme (WFP). 

He will discuss his role within the World Food program and his vision and hopes for the future both politically and for humanity.  His wife Mary is an AWAR member and a contributor to the AWAR cookbook “The Roman Kitchen”.

Beasley says “the Nobel Peace Prize has given the U.N. agency a spotlight and megaphone to warn world leaders that next year is going to be worse than this year, and without billions of dollars we are going to have famines of biblical proportions in 2021”.
