AWAR March General meeting
Thursday March 18th @ 17.30 pm

The Dazzling Private Jewelry Collection of Her Majesty the Queen

The Queen’s jewelry collection is probably the most important private jewelry collection in the world.  Quite different from the Crown Jewels, the personal jewelry are the items that have been privately collected by two Queens Regnant, and four Queens Consort.

We will have a behind the scenes look at one of the most important collections of its kind in the world.  The collection comprises the items that HMQ wears as she carries out her roles of head of nation, and head of state.

We will hear about tiaras, necklaces, bracelets and brooches that have been accumulated over the years.  There are fascinating stories about how they entered the collection, and how much thought is put into what she wears for particular occasions.

Vivienne Haxby is a London-based Blue Badge Tourist Guide.  She is one of the few Guides who can name each one of the Queen’s dogs and can identify almost all of the jewelry her Majesty wears.   These guides are the official, professional tourist guides of the United Kingdom and are allowed to guide inside places such as Westminster Abbey and the Tower of London.

Put on your most glamorous jewels, Tiara, or festive headwear and grab a glass of whatever you like.  Join us for this stimulating talk/aperitivo at 17.30. We’ll cover a few general AWAR topics and then have the pleasure of hearing from this interesting speaker.

Attire: Glamorous Jewels, Ascot Headpiece or Tiara!
