Tour the Fassi Gelateria, "Il Palazzo del Freddo"

In 1900, when Vittorio Emanuele III became king, Giovanni Fassi came on as an apprentice pastry chef and ice cream maker at the royal house, immediately gaining the reputation of “sovereign ice cream maker.”

Through two world wars to the post-war recovery, his gelateria became a fashionable venue, frequented by illustrious people, and point of reference for the whole city.

Fassi is now Italy’s oldest gelateria, open for more than 140 years and handed down by five generations.

The tour, about 1 hour and 15 minutes, will include the history of Fassi Gelateria with an overview of the history of ice cream and viewing of vintage machinery, as well as access to the workshop where one of the ice cream artisans will reveal all the secrets of making their ice cream and where participants will be invited to interact.

We'll then enjoy a tasting (cone or cup of 3 flavors + cream + Sanpietrino or alternatively frullato + Sanpietrino).
