At home with Gaia Ceriana Franchetti of INDOROMAN In 1995, writer and filmmaker Gaia Ceriana Franchetti founded textile company INDOROMAN to preserve and diffuse manual loom techniques used between the Mediterranean and India. They create collections for furniture and clothing with fine fabrics woven by contemporary handlooms, combining Italian fabrication with Indian silks and cottons.
Her home and studio was established with her husband Giorgio Franchetti, a central figure in contemporary art, who was naturally inclined towards Roman aesthetics, as Gaia was for Indian. Their "Indoroman" aesthetic was born.
We are invited to Gaia's home, where she will talk to us about her interesting life and her passion for India. Attendees may watch one of her documentaries or browse the textiles. Light refreshments will be served. When: Thursday, October 17, 11:00 am Where: Via Orti d’ Alibert, 15 00165 Roma (enter via green gate, for those coming by car, the ZTL is open from 10 am)
